Worthing Bus Gathering and Running Day

Pictures from the 2005 event

An early arrivel on Sunday, CJN435C is a Massey bodied Leyland PD3/6 new to Southend Corporation in 1965.

One of the former Southdown breakdown tenders, an AEC Matador accompanied a Southdown Queen Mary which had suffered a failure on its way to the rally. No it hasn't run into the back of the bus!

Two Aldershot & District Dennis Lolines were next to arrive - the first one of the Weymann bodied rear-entrance MkI buses ......

...... which was followed by 503 (AAA503C). one of the later 1965 build with a sliding door, forward entrance - very unusual.

The free services soon got underway and RM1 was called upon to entertain enthusiasts on a seafront service.

This picture shows what were probably two of the most popular bus designs in the 1950s and 60s - a Southdown Queen Mary and a London RM. 412 on its way to Shoreham Beach passes RM1.

London General (Go Ahead) again sent their open top Olympian, NV176.

Maidstone & District was represented by this excellently restored AEC Reliance with Harrington body, SO277 (277DKT).

Further open top activity with the Portsmouth PD2 on its way to Shoreham Beach. This proved to be a popular bus with the riders.
